One of the reasons why I love Mac and Sam is because their chemistry is so intense that it scorches off the pages. No matter if they're having sex, verbally sparring or silently declaring their possessiveness there's always that sexual tension that's constant between them that I absolutely adore.
In this short story, their chemistry is still amazing. It takes place a little bit before the end of [b:Six Degrees of Lust|11757362|Six Degrees of Lust (By Degrees, #1)|Taylor V. That night that Sam leaves his fears behind and gives Mac a night that he'll really enjoy. It was great to finally see what they did that night, how Sam acted and what ultimately led to them getting their matching tattoos. It goes beyond the terms of their 'relationship' but finally getting to see Sam and Mac act the way they really want to gives an inside look into just how far these two have come and how much more they still have to go through.
I love that Sam is still the gruff guy afraid of relationships but that you see the hints of how freaked he is that Mac is starting to mean more to him than just a willing body. I also loved that Mac is still so careful with Sam but teases him like no one else can. He knows how to push Sam to get what he wants but he also knows when to back off when he sees Sam starting to get the urge to bolt.
Overall, I loved this short story because it was a little taste further into Mac and Sam's relationship. These are one of my favorite characters and it was great to see their night out in South Beach. I'm even more eager to read [b:Six Degrees of Separation|17791950|Six Degrees of Separation (By Degrees, #2)|Taylor V.
